After a big debut in 2007, the Taste of Muskegon will be back, bigger and better, on June 21 and 22, 2008. New downtown partnerships include Miss Michigan, the Muskegon Film Festival and the Big Rigs/Big Trucks Show. Organizers are also working to incorporate a Food Expo Stage as well as a Beer and Wine School, which will feature Michigan breweries and wineries. While the number of vendor booths will be increased from 20 to 25, organizers expect the competition for these spaces to be tight. “All of the vendors who participated last year couldn’t say enough about the event,” said Allen Serio, chair of the Taste of Muskegon committee, “and we heard immediately after the event of many others who would like to participate.” Interested vendors should visit the Taste of Muskegon website (www.tasteofmuskegon.com) to download an application.
The Taste of Muskegon is an event that brings together premiere local food establishments in a family-friendly atmosphere, allowing patrons to sample a great assortment of area specialties. Organized by Muskegon Main Street to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan, the inaugural event in 2007 attracted 11,000 visitors. In addition to restaurant vendors, event organizers are looking for corporate sponsors. Information on these opportunities is also available on the Taste of Muskegon website.
